This is death— you eat it with a knife and fork when the plate is put in front of you. The server is blind but puts the meal so gently down. You cut it, pick up the portions and there you are eating the meal that began cooking a lifetime ago.
Michael Penny was born in Australia but moved to Canada early on. He has published five books and his poetry has appeared in over forty different periodicals. He lives on an island near Vancouver.
